An old Yiddish proverb captures the need to be intentional in learning: ''When you don''t know where you''re going, just about any road will get you there.''
Learning is more than a board game but many of the design strategies are quite similar. “Play to Win” as we explore strategies of using electronic portfolio technology in the learning experience.
Factor in the opportunities you want learners to have within the resource. Lead users through the learning outcomes they need to achieve. Make allowances for unintended interactions and learning that will be encountered. Identify life skills that can be captured in the process. Anticipate potentially unique directions for each learner.
In response to the Yiddish proverb quoted earlier, consider this: ''Use an electronic portfolio to keep track of where you've been. It will help you move toward the opportunities you want to reach.''
